Method Preheat oven to Gas 6 or Edectric 200C. Sift flour, salt , sugar and bicarbonate into a basin Stir in the buttermilk and form a ball with the mixturePress the ball onto a greased baking tray and cut a deep cross (quarter). Bake for 30 minutes in the centre of oven (when ready should sound hollow when tapped on bottom)If you prefer you can make scones from this mixture - baking for about 12 minutes at the same temperature. |
