The Parishes of St John´s and St Mary Magdalene´s are committed to protecting the privacy of it´s Parishioners, individuals and website visitors. Who are we?

The Roman Catholic Parishes of St John´s, Portobello and St Mary Magdalene´s, Bingham are based in the East of Edinburgh. The Parishes of St John´s and St Mary Magdalene´s are our data controllers who comply with its obligations under the "GDPR" by keeping personal data up to date; by storing and destroying it securely; by not collecting or retaining excessive amounts of data; by protecting personal data from loss, misuse, unauthorised access and disclosure and by ensuring that appropriate technical measures are in place to protect personal data.

Information that we collect from you

The Parishes collect personally identifiable information you may provide through the newsletter sign up, Parish registration forms, Gift Aid forms, bank account information if paying by Direct Debit, information required for safeguarding purposes, information required for baptism, marriage and funeral services. We ask you for personal data only when it is needed to provide services you have enquired about or asked us to provide or to respond to your request for information, or when you volunteer in the parish. We process personal information for certain legitimate purposes, which include the following:
